Johnny Logan - Adventures of a College Student
Our college has started a Facebook site that will try to mirror the typical everyday life of a college student. This site will follow our designated college student through registration, starting classes, issues through the semester, finals, and grades. Who is our designated college student…why a freshman named Johnny Logan. He may excel in one class and struggle in another, ride the bus, need a job, visit departments on campus, work out in the recreation building, find a girlfriend, etc., etc. It is designed for students attending any college or even high school seniors who want to get an early glimpse of college life. There will be tips that students can use anywhere.

Spring 2010 enrollment breaks record!
The spring of 2010 enrollment is the highest spring enrollment in the history of the college with a total of 7162 students (up 875 students over last spring’s 6287). This is a 14% increase. Our credit hours are also up 13% from last spring. With all of this the state report show us as the fastest growing community college in the state of Illinois! It has been a busy time and in just a few weeks we'll be ready again to start registration for summer and/or fall. Thanks to everyone who helps make this happen.

Spring 2010 semester
We are over halfway through the fall 2009 semester and it is flying by! We start registration for spring 2010 soon. It doesn't seem possible that we are already getting prepared to sign up for spring. Our first week of registration (starting November 2) will be for Weblink only, then on November 9 students can sit down with their advisor to get registered. Finals will be here before we know it!

Fall 2009 enrollment blows away estimates!!!
OVER 7000 students!
7024 to be exact. No wonder everyone was busy and the halls are full. This is the largest enrollment we have ever had. Last fall we were at 6167 so we’ve had a 14% increase. Our credit hours are at 63156. That is up 7% from last fall. These numbers are unbelievable. I never really thought I’d see the day we went over 7000. Everything is up from last fall…students taking online classes are up 47%, minority enrollment is up 14%, males are up 9%, females up 18%, international up 55%, baccalaureate up 12%, career up 7%, student from out local high schools up 11%, etc., etc. I wanted to give a massive "thanks" to everyone in the Student Services area for all of their work this past 5 months with the multitude of students that have enrolled. This is an unprecedented moment that might not happen again. The amount of students that had to be dealt with was staggering but everyone came through with flying colors.

Spring semester ends
Wow...what an ending to the spring semester. The inland hurricane came through with 106 mph winds and knocked us out of the last week of the semester and finals! Students will view their grades and can make a decision if they want to take a final or not. Probably most will choose to just take the grade and be done with the spring. It's really a weird way to finish the spring but we'll do what we have to do. The college campus was pretty tore up with trees down, etc., but we'll bounce back. Bring on the summer!

Two juniors from each of our eleven district high schools will be chosen by their high school counselors to attend John A. Logan College during the summer semester. The College will provide a tuition and fee waiver to the two highest ranked students from each school who meet the criteria and who want to start their college education early.
